About Me

Hello my name is Heather Coley.

After an unpromising start with needlework at school and a career in Occupational Therapy I successfully took a City and Guilds course in Design and Embroidery which totally altered the direction of my life. I now spend a large amount of most days doing ‘creative things’ in my studio in the garden or in my sewing room.

We moved to Dorset in 2005 and I find constant inspiration in the beautiful scenery and wildlife. I am particularly inspired by colour and texture and like to experiment with many different mediums and techniques.

I have always had a great love of horses and repeatedly return to portraying them in various mediums.

Some of my recent work is trying to capture some images of an awesome holiday in Venice and a new venture in conjunction with my sister, Clare* – a ceramic artist – creating ceramic trees with textile leaves.

I have had shown work in various exhibitions and recently in the Colour Gallery in Wincanton, as well as undertaking several private commissions.

I run various courses from home and at local embroidery and other groups.
